CUSTOM ITINERARIES BY PEAK PLANNING AND CREATIVE

Let’s plan your Peak Experience - together.

Welcome to the newest branch of the Peak Experiences Blog — a place where your dream adventures become beautifully mapped-out journeys. After seven years exploring the Canadian Rockies in every season — hiking 100+ trails, staying everywhere from backcountry campsites to boutique hotels, and uncovering the best cafés, viewpoints, hidden corners, and bucket-list routes — I’m excited to offer custom itineraries designed to help you explore like a local.

FAQs

How far in advance should I book my itinerary?

For the Personalized and Fully Customized itineraries, I recommend booking at least 8–12 weeks before your trip, especially during summer and fall when the Rockies are busiest. Standard Itineraries can be downloaded anytime.

What if I want to visit places like Lake O’Hara, Mount Assiniboine, or backcountry lodges?

Some of the most iconic places in the Rockies — including Lake O’Hara, Mount Assiniboine, Skoki Lodge, and certain backcountry campgrounds — are extremely competitive and can book out 12+ months in advance.

Booking windows typically open between November and February for the upcoming summer season, and availability often sells out within minutes.

If your itinerary involves these experiences, I’ll:

  • outline the application or booking process

  • prepare your plan around the appropriate dates

  • provide reminders and tips for securing spots

  • offer alternatives if availability is limited

  • structure your itinerary to fit whichever dates you do get

Due to the nature of Parks Canada and BC Parks systems, I cannot guarantee availability for these locations — but I can prepare you with the best possible strategy.

Do you secure permits and passes for me?

For the Fully Customized package, I’ll help you identify exactly what you need and guide you through the process step-by-step, but all official bookings — such as Parks Canada reservations, BC Parks bookings, and backcountry permits — must be completed directly by the traveller.

I’ll provide:

  • direct booking links

  • instructions

  • booking reminders

  • tips for navigating peak-season release queues

What if permits sell out?

I’ll always include backup options in your itinerary — alternate hikes, campgrounds, or lodges that still deliver an incredible experience. The Rockies have endless gems beyond the marquee names.

What’s included in a hiking map or GPS file?

You’ll receive links to the correct AllTrails routes, GPX downloads (when applicable), safety notes, route tips, and my personal insights from hiking those trails in different conditions.

What if I’m visiting in winter?

I’ll tailor your itinerary for season-appropriate adventures — think snowshoeing, winter hiking, hot springs, skiing, and cosy lodge stays — along with safe driving notes and gear suggestions.

How personalized is the Personalized Itinerary?

Very! I use your questionnaire answers to build a custom, thoughtful plan based on your preferred pace, travel style, budget, and activity level.

Do you work with travel groups, families, or special occasions?

Yes! I’ve planned trips for families, friend groups, couples, and even curated itineraries for engagements and milestone adventures. Just let me know what the trip is for.

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

For full details on our cancellation and refund policy please click here.

Do you earn commission from hotels or activities?

I may receive affiliate income from certain links at no extra cost to you. This helps support the Peak Experiences Blog and allows me to keep offering high-quality planning services.

Do you offer itineraries for other destinations?

Yes — depending on availability. Beyond the Rockies, I can sometimes plan for:

  • Chilliwack & the Fraser Valley

  • Sea-to-Sky Corridor

  • Utah (Moab, Zion, Bryce)
