Best Hikes in the Lake O’Hara Area
1. Lake O’Hara Alpine Circuit (Advanced) ⭐ Top Pick!
Distance: ~12 km loop
Elevation Gain: ~900 m
Time: 6–8 hours
Why Hike It? This is the most spectacular route in the area, offering panoramic views of the Opabin Plateau, Wiwaxy Gap, and Huber Ledges.

Essential Hiking Tips for Lake O’Hara
✔ Start Early – The first bus leaves at 8:30 AM, but if you’re hiking the road, begin at sunrise to maximize daylight.
✔ Pack Layers – Weather changes rapidly in the alpine; bring a rain jacket and warm layers even in summer.
✔ Bring Cash – If you hike in, you might get a bus ride down if there’s space ($12 cash).
✔ Bear Safety – Carry bear spray and make noise in dense brush areas.
✔ Leave No Trace – Pack out all trash and stay on designated trails.
